The British Army Clay Target Shooting Team excels in national and international competitions, offers expert coaching, supports development squads, and promotes inclusivity, camaraderie, and professionalism in clay target shooting.
About
The British Army Clay Target Shooting Team brings together talented individuals from Regular and Reserve forces across all ranks and units, including retired veterans. With a focus on professionalism and skill development, the team competes in national, international, and inter-service competitions, proudly representing the Armed Services.
The team features several squads, each tailored to different disciplines and experience levels. The Senior Sporting Squad (SSS), competing in the most popular clay shooting discipline in the UK, English Sporting (ESP), participates in events across the country and internationally. Their dedication is matched by the Army Development Squad (ADS), which develops ESP shooters with the aim of them joining the SSS, and the Female Development Squad (FDS), launched in 2022 to encourage more women to embrace clay shooting. FDS members receive top-tier coaching in both ESP and Olympic Skeet and compete in both service and civilian events, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
For those aspiring to Olympic heights, the Olympic Development Squad (ODS) provides world-class coaching in disciplines such as Olympic Skeet and Olympic Trap, aiming to produce national-level athletes and future Olympians. The ODS includes shooters capped for both GB and the Home Nations.
The team also supports newcomers through the Army Target Shooting Club – Clay Target (ATSC-CT), which offers expert instruction, essential equipment, and a safe, welcoming introduction to the sport.
Whether honing a competitive edge or starting a clay shooting journey, the British Army Clay Target Shooting Team fosters camaraderie, sportsmanship, and excellence. They exemplify the Army’s values while inspiring others to discover and enjoy this exciting sport.
